About Shoe City
Shoe City was founded in Bellville in the Western Cape in 1986. The first store was in a warehouse and was very successful. The store began to grow exponentially and in 2005 became a part of a larger group: the Pepkor Group. By 2007 there were 95 stores throughout the country. Although Shoe City had an industrial feel to the store, it was heavily successful with the public market.
In the early 2000s, Shoe City revamped its look, marketed itself and became a household name and a familiar sight at most shopping centres. The shoes range from modern to comfortable and practical shoes and the store aims to keep up with the current global trends.
